Alright, guys, we are going to finish up. This book took a little bit longer than I had intended. And I guess that’s just what life is about sometimes. The key thing here for me anyways, is that, go ahead and finish this up, I think that I did this with what was the other book I did. What was the other book I did, um, besides getting rich, took me a while to finish it. And it was really just a matter of sitting down to do it, finding the time making the time to do it. So we’re gonna finish this up, We’re on chapter nine of Are you ready to succeed, where’s the book, there it is. I will also post the video of this to YouTube and put a link here as well. So you can follow along with the mind map. And I’ll say the mind map as well. And you can download the whole thing and take a look at it if you want, if that’s something that you would like to do. So just as what I’m choosing to do on Father’s Day, finish this up. It’s important to me and just kind of making that time and it’s like, if you don’t finish these things, you’ve always kind of got this open tab in your mind this open loop that never got closed. And that’s just me finishing this up. I was always enjoyed getting something like this finished up as well. And this one’s pretty important. It’s a pretty important chapter that I feel like I’ll share with you. And we’ll work we’ll work our way through it. So as we’re looking here, and we’ll work our way through it, We’re on chapter nine of Are you ready to succeed, unconventional strategies for achieving personal mastery in business and life by Sreekumar. Ralph. And, you know, I’m also taking his course, with creative and personal mastery and taking the course in person with people after having gone through this several times already. It’s it’s a, it’s a whole different world as well. So chapter nine is you create your world from what is inside of you. And the intro starts off with the whole idea that most of the models that you currently have in your life, they don’t serve you well, are they serving us? Sure every model serves you, right, every story that you’re telling yourself and everything that already exists, is serving you in one way or another. For better or worse. The idea is that you can’t simply adopt a brand new model and just say, Yeah, well, that’s my new model, and I’m gonna use it. The the key of it is to find evidence of it at work. For example, right now we are in the class going through the section of creating our new realities, determining what we want that new reality to be or that new model, and then looking for evidence of that model at play in action, and writing down and capturing that and saying, Hey, here’s where I see that evidence of it, jotting it down. And it’s when you do that, that you reinforce the idea. And that’s really what what he’s talking about here. And then the the whole idea is there’s going to be he’s going to give us a general purpose model as we go forward here. And I’ll also liken that to framework right, here’s the framework of something, here’s the outline of something that you can use the model is an outline, and you can kind of fill it in as you see fit and ways that work best for you. So what’s inside of you? You know, pretty sure I’ve talked to this a couple times. And I think I just did it recently, where I talked about the idea of Wayne Dyer talking about the oranges and orange juice is the only thing come out of orange juice because that’s all that’s inside of it. Sreekumar Rao uses this rasa gola, which is a traditional Indian sweet to round and white about size of a ping pong ball. And inside of it is a sweet sweet syrup. No matter how hard you squeeze it. That’s all it’s kind of come out because that’s what’s inside of it. The thing is, is that what’s inside of us is currently or most often

We’ve got all these other things that are inside of us that are we he calls, it’s going to be guilt, depression, envy, worry, unhappiness, shame, sorrow, nervousness, jealousy, hate, fear, embarrassment, or frustration. Because that’s, that’s what our mental models have created within assess that mental chatter that when we started this process, that’s what we kind of that’s what we do. developed. And it reminds me of the stories that people call a news story or other stories and the the idea of you’ve got two dogs that are always fighting each other. Right? And the two dogs are always getting bet on by random people in a dogfight. And the person who is the person who’s leading that right the in the story, like it’s a grandfather, Indian who’s who’s doing this, and he always bets on the right dog, he never loses. And so one day his grandson asked some because why, how do you know which one of the dogs is gonna win? And he goes, Well, that’s easy. It’s the dog that I fed all week, right? So whichever, and this is like, the, you know, whatever you give your attention to is what grows. So whatever you tie up in your mind, and your mental chatter, that’s, that’s what grows, whatever model you give the most attention to, that’s gonna be the one that quote unquote, wins, whether or not that’s the quote, unquote, winning model for you, it’s still going to be the model that gets the most energy still going to be the model that takes precedence in your life. So that idea of what’s inside of you, you can cultivate, you can cultivate that. He says here, that transformation begins and ends with mental models, right? You keep the ones that build and nourish you, like I’m talking about here with the idea of you feed the dog that you want to win. And then you remove the mental models that are filled with poison and content. With what’s an example this, think, I mean, trying to think of it earlier. Even myself in this past week, I was like, how could you do I forget what it was I’d done. I was like, how that was stupid, or, and I caught myself like talking, talking down on myself or saying something about myself or sometimes getting caught and worry, that doesn’t make any sense to get caught in because the future is never kind of certain. Right? And why waste your time focus on these these worrisome moments that may never happen and most likely never happened? and waste your energy there. Where Where? Where else? Could you be using that thought, energy, that powerful creativeness of yours, right? You will, because you’re using your creative energies, to create something that’s just awful and shitty. And you could use that same energy to create something really awesome and beautiful, right? Or amazing or at least beneficial to you. So leverage, leverage a model a mental model that is beneficial to you, because regardless of whether or not you

God create you, regardless, regardless of you creating something, he may as well create something that is useful for you. So he recommends this benevolent universe model and this is one that I know that ever since I first have seen it, it’s something that I’ve been able to implement in my life. And it’s, it’s been wonderful serves me wonderfully. I’ll read a little bit about reading from the book here it says the universe is conscious of benevolent entity, it always acts in your best interest and always brings into your life exactly what you need at any instant. And if the idea is to you know, just really look for those instances and I can I can look at you know, when I got let go of, from Cisco when when they, when they eliminated the job, right? They didn’t let go of you, they’ve eliminated the job and then went into real estate for a couple months. And then as the pandemic was coming into full swing, somebody reached out to me, too. See if I was interested in another job, and I said sure, yeah, absolutely interested in it and think it’d be a great fit perfect almost for me. Exactly where I believe I need to be right now. It was it was like almost a perfect role for me. As you know, who I am and where I am at this point in my life. And then, right, the week that I’m and here’s the deal to like, I mean, you know, kids are home from school. pandemic’s going on. And this was a job working from home, great benefits, all the things. And then they stopped hiring that week that I was hired, right. So this like, again, the idea that it always acts in your best interest always brings into your life exactly what you need, at any instant, right? Right when you need it. That was, you know, that was how I saw, you don’t have to sit, that’s, and here’s the thing, you have the opportunity to see this as you like, you don’t have to see it. The thing is, if you’re going to step into this model, you have to start looking for the evidence of it in action for you, so that you can support the model that you would like to implement. And there’s been countless and several other times that I have seen this at play in my life. Since since picking up on this model, that wasn’t the only time there’s definitely several other times, but I just want to use that as the example because even though real estate people killed it this past year, in real estate, and they’re and they’re still doing really well. I don’t know what would have happened, if I would have had to have stayed in real estate would I’ve gotten sick, but I’ve got somebody in the house sick, you know, would something else have happened? And, and there would have been a lot of worry and frustration at home in the family life, if I’d stayed in that so that the universe provided this, this other option that was perfect for me and my family at that point in time. And, you know, once you start seeing stuff like that, it’s really kind of hard to stop or turn back. So the idea too, is that it inspires if you’re able to do this, if you’re able to begin to pull this type of model into your own life is is it as bad as the whole idea of heaven on earth? Right? Because now, like, you’ve got the universe actually working for you and your own benefit? And it is it becomes again, like heaven on earth? And the idea to is, is where’s the time to think, you know, that is this? Is this real? No more so than any other model. Right? But the thing is that all the other all the other models are just as false as as this one. So, again, what if it’s really true, though? What if, what if it really does work out this way? And then you know, what does that mean for your life then. And

I’ve been able to, again, implement these into a point where I believe it, and I see it. So he also mentions here that all the exercises within this book, have basically led up to this convergence point, giving you the exercises to test out to be able to see the universe is working on your behalf. And now it’s like, okay, now you just may just come out and say it right. But this is, and you can look back, if you’ve done any of the exercises in this book, if you take many of its courses, and you’ve done a lot of it even to the lightest, lightest varying degree, then then you’ll you’ll be able to say, oh, shoot, the universe really was working on my behalf. And and now you know, there’s, there’s something amazing going on for me. So he’s gonna hit back again on the idea that our beliefs cannot be forced. So you simply cannot force yourself to accept the proposed model. You may recognize it intellectually, and that it’s a good idea, but you can’t just automatically accept it. You can’t believe it all once. And I liken this to the idea of who’s the guy who wrote the book PLOS sees time mahalik go look for small things that you can believe then instead of trying to take it all in at once, if it’s you know, if it’s too much at one time to say yes benevolent universe, and bla, you’re like, Fuck that. The thing is, then take something small that you can work with and then start looking for how that is beginning to show no small pieces of benevolence from the universe towards you. So whatever you believe now, small pieces and then just each time something a little bit beyond that initial point. So small increments outside of the known at the time and then over time, it will become massive over time. It will become This this piece of the universe that that is with you. And it’s going to become very difficult and challenging to refute. At a certain point in time, just just like any of your existing models, like you’ve got models, right now you’re like, they are totally true, this is always happening. And this is how it is blah, blah, blah. So if you can, however, begin to accept this, this, this model for yourself, and begin to implement, excuse me begin to implement it, you will, you’ll, you’ll start to see benefits almost immediately, again, I’ll go to the current exercises that we’re working on where we create, we have a current reality, we’re like, this Dahlia thing is not ideal in my life and where I’d like it to be. And then you reshape that to say, you know, this reality is totally serving me, and here’s how it serving me, and then you start looking for evidence that it is serving you. And that’s what he talks about here. And the exercise of building up the level of universe is real similar, it says, a look through your history for areas that may seemed awful, but eventually lead you to a better place. Right? Look, I mean, the pandemic, I think the pandemic has led a lot of people to do some inner work that they, you know, hadn’t been willing to face. And now, there’s this mental resilience that I think is happening all over the world that is playing a big part and, and in who we are, I think it’s also hit corporate, pretty hard. So that now our corporations are really seeing how people as people, as they should have, all the time and are really doing what they can to improve the mental stability of their, of their workers. And I think that I think a big portion of that is genuine right now versus a lot of it in prior had been lip service. And now, and now I think they I think it seems like it’s more meaningful.

So you look for look through your history of where something seemed bad. And then you also look for areas where Hidden Hand played a role in getting you to a better place. I’ll use the example I think I was in fourth grade and California, Northern California, it was the mid 80s. And we were moving again. And I was pretty upset that we’re moving. However, I think a week or two after we moved. Like there was a ginormous flood from the Russian River literally wiped out the neighborhood where we’d lived. So within weeks of us leaving, where we’d lived have been wiped out who knows what would have happened, right? It could have been completely hideous and awful. But there’s an area where Hidden Hand played a role, basically kind of saving our lives. So you’ve got something maybe not so drastic and dire that’s happening in your life every day. So you want to look for ways of maybe something, maybe something that impacted your day. It seemed kind of shitty for a moment, but like you’re like, what good can come out of this? What What did I learn from this, where’s the benefit to me in this or my family or my job or anything like that, and you write that down a look for you look for a way that the universe is being benevolent for you like at least once a day. So and then you just you write it that hand write it down, I can’t stress that enough. I really believe that that makes all the difference in the world by handwriting it versus anything else. So there’s also going to come a point to where you feel like you’re slipping back, you may feel like you’re slipping back into your old models. But this is where you double down. You’ve put all this effort in and you don’t want to risk losing the ground that you’ve gained. So and that that can easily happen. Because we’ve had our default models for most of our lives, right, it’s really, really, really easy to fall back into that pattern. I used to be a smoker I used to smoke. And whenever you quit smoking near maybe you’re smoking like one to two packs a day. The idea is that when you go back to it, you don’t go back to one to two pack there. If you don’t go back to a couple cigarettes a day you go back to where you left off. Same thing, same thing is applicable here. You’re gonna go back to whatever dirty nasty habits you had before in your way of thinking versus this new way It is much more beneficial to and end your life. So he also, this is the way he gets it. So I feel, you know, when you get to the end of the book, and you’ve been doing all these exercises, it’s just like I’m saying you kind of start slipping back into your mileage to so much work so much effort. Most of the times I’ve gotten through this book I don’t always make it a point to go read these good stories right about Special Olympic where’s the Shaka fellows who had just read about this was the first time in four years I went look this guy up and read about, you know, kind of what he’s brought into the world. And then there’s, you know, go and there are these there are these incredibly inspiring stories that you can go read and see what’s possible for for just about anybody, given any conditions and conditions for some of these people can be absolutely horrendous but it’s it’s overcoming those those conditions that is what makes the stories awesome. And then there’s a business people who snap back from bankruptcy. So that’s one that I did look up and go through. Let me see if see if I say that yet. Like people like Milton Hershey, right, Hershey’s candy, this guy, you know, he, he faced bankruptcy, George Foreman, he was bankrupt. And now he’s got an estimated wealth of over $250 million. Who’s another couple people I thought that were that were Henry frickin Ford, you know, bankrupted himself in 1903. You know, he tried failed again and kept on going until his dream becoming a reality with today’s net worth estimated at is that like, I don’t know, 188 billion, right? 188 billion. Today Walt Disney is another one who was bankrupt. And Abraham Lincoln So here you go through and he like you’re worried about you know, these failures. Have you ever worried about like going bankrupt or anything like that think about some of these people and and what happened after their bankruptcy who they became even though at one point they were bankrupt, and start to apply this benevolent model, university yourself.

So coping with senseless tragedies is another piece that he’s gotten here as we talk about, like these benevolent models, and we talk about everything else going on there. There are certain things that are going to happen in our lives were like, you know, loss of a child loss of a loved one that super close to you. Yeah, God, I was talking to a gentleman the other day, I was very upbeat, very kind doing his daily job. And he was in Florida with his child who’s had who was a twin and his, his, his bones were all jacked up from the from the bottom, which call it the sack, you know, the, the prenatal sack that they’re born in, and it opened up in 12 weeks. And so when he came out of the womb, he was twisted up like a pretzel. The doctors have had to work on his bones his entire lives, kids only nine years old, gone through all this stuff, getting his legs, broken ligaments, like, cut and spliced in so that he can walk, feet reset all these things. And this is a nine year old kid, a dad going through it. I was like, holy shit, man. The idea that you’re even upbeat and going through all these things, and you still have this good sense of being was really impressive to me. But this is a type of thing that’s kind of like a senseless tragedy. It doesn’t make any sense. Why would this happen to anybody in it in this this benevolent universe, right. And the thing that struck Morales saying here is that you’ve got to do all the work that came before in this book before you can start to cope with these senseless tragedies. And the idea is that the universe’s intervening in your life that is Ziering you around the pitfalls and bringing you what you need over to bringing you the help that you need. When you feel overwhelmed leading you to bounty in different guises and always looking after you in a myriad of ways. You have to feel this way to a very deep level before you can use the strategy of you saying take a look at the idea of a forest fire right when the forest fire happens. It’s just like, it burns everything out of its way but it’s also necessary for for the forest to go through that. History talks about he talks about the idea of leveraging you know maybe some of these things that are paying you or suffering you to take maybe maybe you got to take some Measure to lessen it, you do it consciously. Maybe you can, I don’t know, bring awareness to it right, y’all you see that often I was another gentleman I saw that almost died last year of a blood clot in his leg. And now he’s helping to bring awareness to it right, he’s in a, he’s got a role in his life where he’s able to take this, this thing that’s happened to him and apply it and bring awareness to to blood clots. By leveraging again his his status in the world, and share out with some people and some ways to prevent it and what you can do if it does happen. You know, again, here’s the idea to right, did it uh, he says it’s wonderful, liberating to live in this world, this world where the universe behaves as if it were specifically designed for you and actually give you exactly what you need a world where you can accept it. What you want is not always what you need the child. This is good, too. The child may want to tell advice, cream, but a wise parent provides fresh fruit and vegetables. He says, Are you kidding that the universe looks like this? Yes, you absolutely are. But you’re also kidding yourself, if you think that the universe is the way that it is now. So you again, you have to you have to make this choice. Right that? Do you want to dwell on a peaceful abode with a sense of fulfillment and purpose? Or do you want to wander around the corridors of a House of Horrors where, you know, ghastly apparitions appear without notice? It’s your choice and all your choice and it’s far better choice to live in the bosom of benevolent universe. So I mean, that that kind of closes it up, right? It’s, it’s it is your choice. To live in this benevolent universe, it’s your choice to go ahead and build out this model is your choice to support this model, I just always your conscious choice to build out any model. Because that’s, that’s exactly what you’re doing. Anytime that you’re, you know, you’re beating yourself up, you’re, you’re, you’re, you’re supporting that other dog, but we talked about the dog that always wins. So

I hope that you’ve enjoyed already ready to succeed a little bit of a deeper dive into it. And I hope this inspires you to either pick up this book or try somebody exercises yourself or excuse me do some of the work yourself to to just dive into it in the back of this book too. But then he has his other supplementary reading list where he will give you the levels of the book, he puts it under different headers, Business and Management. What’s another header here? I don’t know. Anyways, like plant plenty of plenty of plenty of other you know books. Here’s one mind over matter. One of the first ones here I’m just gonna give you an example. Mind over matters the type of book you know, Dwayne wire. Wayne Dyer, you’ll manifest your destiny. Popular speaker author Wayne Dyer has other books you may wish to explore. This book is good manual on how you can and he gives you a little synopsis good manual on how you can use metaphors to screen a physical reality. It contains good tips on how to harness the power of subconscious mind. And the whole has explicitly spiritual underpinnings was quite common in this genre reading level number one, right so you know check out this book if that’s something that you’re interested in. If you’re interested in trying to get yourself into a mental model that just says hey, the way my life has been going not the model I want to use and really appreciate Brandon you sharing Sreekumar browse models sounds like something I could be interested in using and applying in my own life. After watching Dr. Srikumar Rao’s Ted Talk on Happiness several years ago, I jumped onto Amazon and bought his book “Are You Ready To Succeed”… in the beginning of his book, he tells you who it is for and the best way to approach it… I promptly put the book back down.

I was not ready yet.

Later that year I picked it up, created a mastermind and dove into the book with several others.

I have done this now for the past 4 years, and each time I read the book Dr. Rao surprises me with something else… it is a completely different book each time!

Finally, I picked up the phone and called his office… I had a great chat with his PM and she helped to secure an interview for the show.

This was absolutely one of the highlights of 2020 for me… and I hope that it is a highlight for you…

You know, just cuz the words not out, I guess enough about you and what you’re doing. Like I said, I always share your book with people who I think are along the way, whatever that means to them. So, Dr. Rao, how I like to start these out is is you and I, you know, we’re kind of, you know, source energy flows through us, right. And the idea is that, you know, the universe speaks to us, and to specific people that are listening to this podcast, or they’re watching the video, what is a message that is coming through you today that you would share with those people,

the message that I like to share is that you are not who you think you are, which is a particular body, mind, intellect, complex, you identify with that. But that’s not who you really are, who you really are, is the omnipresent on this see, and ever present awareness that is beyond both time and space. And the biggest mistake that you made in your life is to identify with this particular finite entity and say, That’s who I am. But that’s not who you are. And it is your obligation to yourself to recognize that you have made this error. That’s a tough one.

normally, I don’t go into this particular rabbit hole, certainly not this early, and certainly not in public. But there’s something about the conversation that we had earlier, which said, Hey, you know, let’s just do it and let the chips fall where they may

100%. I love I love that you’re bringing it up right there at the beginning? Because one of the questions I would have is, how do you recognize that right? Even if even hearing that somebody hears that, how do they go about rectifying that?

Dr. Srikumar Rao 3:32
That is a very good question. And the short answer to that is it requires both a lifetime of effort, and no effort at all. That sounds like a paradox. It is a paradox. And paradoxes are only resolved when you reach a higher level of consciousness than you were in when you created or heard that paradox. It’s a little bit like the protagonist in the book, The Alchemist, which is a wonderful one had to go all over the world to find out that what he wanted was right where he was. So it’s pretty much that way we identify with this particular body mind, intellect complex, but that’s not who we are. And there are countless sages and you know, realized beings who have pointed out the way one of the persons who’s had a profound influence on me is Bhagwan Ramana Maharshi, who was an Indian sage, who lived in the late 19th and early 20th century, mid 20th century, he actually passed away in 1950. And he has written numerous books, his disciples have written numerous books, which are transcripts of instructions that he gave. So he is a phenomenal source. He is recent, there are many persons who have observed and recorded his teachings that firsthand. So something that he says at some particular point in your Or evolution will suddenly make so much sense that he will stop almost as if you’ve been hit on the head with a hammer. And all of a sudden it will become completely clear to you. We have this mental chatter, which is this incessant talk going on in our head, you know, what is this guy saying doesn’t make any sense. You know, what does it mean? I’m not the body. Of course, I am the body. You know, all of that is mental chatter. And it’s always been with us mental chatter is like an unwelcome relative who showed up at your house, and you can’t kick him out. But we tend to ignore our mental chatter, suppressive work grounded to the best we can, despite that, and that’s a big mistake. Because our mental chatter really creates our life. We think we live in a real life we don’t we live in a construct. And we created that construct with our mental chatter and mental models. And once we recognize that, we’ll find, hey, if I don’t like what I am experiencing, I’m going to go in and change what I have created. And when you do that, you’ll find it’s possible to get to a point where every day is a blast, you get up in the morning, you’re profoundly happy choice, not because something happened, but you are so profoundly choice. And one day you discover that there is no you and there is only joy. So that is a life journey, if you will, but many stages, and even a very cursory application of the kinds of things that I share in the book, are you ready to succeed, will immensely immensely improve your experience of life? So the book that you created, right, and talking about these shifts, and these evolutions, and, you know, being being impacted by this gentleman, you mentioned there, you went through, you went through physics, right, you’re you you went to your physics and you went to marketing, then you went to academia. And then at some point, you decided, you needed to share this stuff out, you needed to teach this in the book, right? It isn’t so much a conscious decision as an evolution, because I was profoundly unhappy with what I was doing. Professionally, I was a Professor of Marketing and a great deal of what I was teaching. I really didn’t believe in didn’t believe it or not, in the sense that it didn’t work. It did work killer, I knew personally how well it worked. But I didn’t think it was good, either for the individual or society. To put it bluntly, I think a great many products are put on the market, which essentially, humanity would be better off, you know, if we didn’t have that, do you really need Cheetos, and many different flavors of that, and 14 different flavors of coke and, you know, to pay, so a lot of creative energy, a lot of resources are being poured into stuff, which is have marginal or even negative utility to society and individuals. So I had always been reading spiritual biography, mystical autobiography, and one day I came up with a bright idea, why don’t I take the teachings of the world’s great masters, which, incidentally, I resisted for a very long time, because I have a Western mentality. And I came from Missouri. So very show me was very much a part of my ethos. And I said, there must be a lot of people like me, so let me talk to them. Not from Peters, what do you got to believe? But let me talk to them from a viewpoint of why don’t you try it and see if it works in your life. And the thought of doing that made me come alive. So I did. And I created the course it did. Well, I moved it to Columbia Business School in 1999. And it exploded. It was the only course of Columbia which is a university wide draw that students from law school, from business schools, from the School of International Public Affairs from journalism, Teachers College all over the place. And then it’s spread by word of mouth. So I’ve taught it at many of the world’s top business schools at Columbia, at London Business School, and Berkeley at Kellogg, Imperial College. And now I teach it privately in New York, London and San Francisco. Obviously, all live classes are temporarily halted because of the pandemic. But you know, it’s not going to be around forever, and we’ll see what happens. I do a lot of corporate engagements. And I also have personal coaching clients. And I only work with clients who have a enormous desire to have an outsized impact on the world, they really want to make a dent in the universe. And at the same time, they also are aware that they are on a spiritual quest, and they want spiritual growth. And many of them think that they these two are in conflict, but they really aren’t. And how to show them that not only are they not in conflict, but they with each other synchronously and harmoniously, that’s what my coaching is all about. That’s fantastic. I

mean, again, like I told you the beginning here, that’s kind of how spiritual dope came about this podcast where it’s just said, Hey, you know, there’s an alignment here, that’s much greater than if you were to just initiate a personal will, if you will, right. So you can only get so far as a person. But how far can you get as a spiritual being? Right is kind of the mental shift. Right? That’s a, you talk a little bit about the mental models. So that’s the mental model that I’ve set up for myself, that I tried to share out the podcast, you talked about mental models, again, as a construct, what would be an example of a mental model? For you?

Oh, sure. A mental model that I have is, oh, gee, there are people who are interested in what I have to say. So let me go pull it out. That’s the model. Now understand that we typically tend to think of models in terms of good or bad, or right or wrong, that’s the wrong way to look at it. Because every model at some level is false. You push hard enough, you penetrate deep enough, it’ll crumble. And every model at some level is true. Otherwise, it will have come into existence. So supposing you say the mood is made of green cheese. That’s the right and at some point, you know, there was a moon that was greenish, and it looked to be, hey, maybe it is made of green cheese. But that’s a marble that will crumble pretty easily, you know, with now, especially now, with telescopes, and people landing on that, and so on. So the thing about models is don’t look at it and say, it’s right or it’s wrong, whether it’s true or its false. The true test of a mental model is does it work for you? Does it work for you in your life now? And the answer to that is yes, you adopted you tinker with it, you make it even better for your personal circumstances? And if the answer to that is no, you drop it. So the test of a mental model is, does it serve you well, at this stage, whatever that stages, but of course, you’re always looking out for data to confirm your mental model. And if you’re doing that assiduously, you will find that many mental models you hold, do not serve you well. And once you recognize that, you drop it, you’re always looking for a better mental model until you come to a point where you drop all bottles, period.

That and one of the things that I realized reading about that in your book, was just the idea of being able to drop a model, because we’re so emotionally invested in our models, that we’re almost scared to let it go. Even if it’s not serving us anymore.

You cannot drop a model models are like desires. You know, let’s say you’re a smoker, you can’t say I’m going to quit, stop my desire to smoke, the best you can do is say I’m going to abstain from smoking weed. Every time someone lights up, you see a cigarette or a cigarette, you’ll say, Gee, I wish I could have a cigarette, you can’t stop that is similar way you can’t stop or drop mental models, the mental model has to drop you, the desire has to leave you you cannot leave the desire. That’s a very important point that I’d like to get across.

That makes sense. I mean, that’s how drinking was for me, I’ll call it just kind of it just fell away. It’s no longer

a drop away. And you no longer have even been designed to that. And then you know that you’re finally free of that Incubus

to be free. Don’t give us it is very liberating. Yes, right, very liberating. So I want to get back a little bit to the part where you were resistant to, you know, going forth with the course and even before that, resistant to some of these ideas that you shared in your book, if I recall correctly, your mother’s was fairly spiritual. And she would tell you stories, and you would you would resist the stories itself. Let’s talk a little bit about that.

But I’ve come up with good counter examples and feel very proud when I came across really good counter examples.

So what would you what kind of what kind of things would she say to you? And what would your counter examples be? And then, you know, when did you finally accept those things?

but I think this is one that I mentioned in the book too. She will always look at everything and look on the the what we would call look on the bright side. So and many of these states are, you know, part of I grew up in India, so it’s part of Indian tradition, the Hindu tradition, if you will. So there was a tale of I Man, and he was just taking a walk. And he saw this great big watermelon. And it was rolling around in the field. And there was a, a cherry tree or a palm tree or something like that. And, you know, there were all these fruits high up. And he said, Isn’t that silly, you know, you have this tiny fruit and his way up or a big strong tree. And here’s this huge watermelon and it’s on a wide and the ground. That is silly. And then he went to sleep under a tree and a tree fell on his head. And he looked up and said, Oh, if I had been a watermelon and get a say, that was given as an example of God, or the universe has wisdom in them. Right? I looked at that and said, Yeah, okay, that’s so what about coconuts? And what about durian at that time, I used to be in Burma. And durian was a very favorite tree fruit there. And the durian is a great big, prickly fruit exactly like a jackfruit. And, you know, it grows on a tree high up, but it probably weighs around 20 pounds, or more and high up on a tree and Dorian drops in your head, you’re not going to get up and stop thinking philosophically, you’re gone. And similarly, a coconut, you know, if it’s in case, you take fibrous shell, and coconut drops in your head, again, you’re not going to walk, you wake up and start talking, thinking philosophical words. So immediately pointed that out. And my mother shook her head and didn’t say anything. Because she knew I wasn’t there. I didn’t know I wasn’t there, I thought that I just want a brilliant debating point. And I was very, very pleased with myself. So that’s the kind of thing she was always telling me stuff, which I was pushing back against. But something over she said, Actually muster seep in, because all of a sudden, it came together and came together extraordinarily powerfully.

Yeah. So I mean, I had a very similar experience. You know, my mother was always talking about being being aware. And it was all about awareness. And, you know, as you were talking about earlier, you know, I’m very well, there I am, right, there I am, I can touch and feel and see myself, what else do I need to be aware of. But you know, 40 years later, it all kind of like a rubber band into the back of my head at all, it all finally made sense. And it sounds to me, it was kind of similar for you were all the things that your mother had been teaching you at some point, boom, there it was. And did you ever did you ever have reached out to her and say you were right,

towards the end of her life, she got a sense of that. I’m really very sorry that she had passed on before she had just started teaching the course at Columbia. And then she passed on. So she never knew how successful it became or all of the other things that happened after that. And, you know, that’s one of the regrets of my life. But she is somewhere where she knows all about this anyway, because she’s nodding her head and saying, See,

So so you know, one of the one of the interesting things that I find about your book? Well, a lot about it is interesting to me, but one of the parts is merging the the spirituality and the material. And he talked a bit about how, if you, I think I think you’re kind of talking about it with the marketing, right? If we’re just trying to sell these things, you know, there’s another color of toothpaste, there’s another thing of Cheetos. There’s another way to do it. And I think that that’s what you’re opening up to, right in the beginning of the book, we want to talk a little about like, how somebody should approach it that way, like looking for material and spiritual gains for people.

When you’re looking for spiritual gain. A lot of people think that it is separate from spiritual, spirituality and materiality are two totally different things. But they really aren’t. We are stuck in this illusion. And there is a Sanskrit term for it called Maya. And Maya manifests itself as the world around and we’re striving in this world of Maya. And it’s perfectly possible for the US that striving as a mechanism for your growth. So let me share my view on life. And my view on life is the only thing you ever do in life is you work on yourself. And everything that is given to you is a tool which you use to work on yourself. That includes your job, your carrier, your partner, if you’re in a marriage, your children do the work you do, they’re all tools given to you to work on yourself. You use them as skillfully as you can, if you’re an entrepreneur, you run a company, you want your company to be successful, you want your employees to be happy to loyal, you want them to grow, and you try to be the best star employer you can be. But in the process of doing that, what you’re really doing is you’re working on yourself, if you’ve got a wife, you try to be the best husband, you can. But in the process of doing that, you will click on yourself, if you have children, you try to be the best father, you can. But in the process of doing that, what you’re really doing is you’re working on yourself all of these tools. So the only thing you ever do in life is you work on yourself. And it is your job, your responsibility to use all the tools you’ve been given as skillfully as you can, but recognize that there are tools and recognize that you work in yourself. That’s what everybody does. Some do it consciously, some do it unconsciously, in those who do it unconsciously, he made a mess of the wonderful tools that they have been handled. And sometimes they don’t even know that they made a mess of that. Right? You are where you are the persons who come to my programs to recognize that they have some incredible tools, and they use them with care. And with skill.

I think that you started off this conversation with telling us, you know, kind of who you are, you know, it’s your obligation to discover who you truly are, because you’re not who you you feel like you are. And so that, to me kind of aligns with what you’re saying here to work on yourself is to discover that piece, is that what you’re saying? Because I think a lot of people would interpret that, initially is saying, I’ve got to work on myself to be more successful primarily on the exterior. Whereas I think what you’re saying here is wrong

with that just so long as you recognize that that simply is step on your path. And that’s not what you truly want. You know, if you talk to people, what do you want? What are you ambitious? Oh, I want to be president, I want to be CEO, I want to have a big mansion, I want to have a private jet. Why do you want all of that, and you’ll find ultimately, what it boils down to is, I want to be happy, I want to be happy period, I don’t want my happiness to end I want to be free from suffering, period. Right. And it turns out that the only way you can truly be free of suffering is to realize that there is no suffering to begin with, because there is no person entity who is suffering. And that’s the only way you will ever reach a stage where you are not suffering where you are eternally happy. So getting to the point where you recognize that there is no you who is suffering. That is what the great game of life is all about.

And you talk about that being a process. I still remember the first few times that I heard somebody say trust the process as I exactly what am i trusting? And exactly what is that process? My guess would be, again, that this book is most of the process.

All you need is a portal, it’s a portal to the rabbit hole. You get down the rabbit hole is are you want to go out deep you want to go. But eventually if you go all the way, there is no you left to emerge.

filter arbitrary, and those seven have changed in the course of my teaching it? Okay. And basically, each of those books was selected, because it has the capacity to ajar you in your thinking, but maybe things are different from the way you thought they were. So they’ve got a great capacity to shake. You get the machinery between your ears working and unarrested. So you see, maybe what I thought all along, isn’t really the way the world is. And that’s a good start to entering into the creativity and personal mastery program.

Yeah, I have a complaint because each one of those books was great. Right? I was like, well, this one too. How could this be so good. Right. So the recommendations, I really enjoyed them from from the creative, personal mastery, standard reading and then you’ve got in the back of the book, you’ve got just I mean, a 12 year 12 month reading list and then I think you’ve got like a 12 year reading list if somebody was to go through the rest of the books in the back there. What if you were to rewrite this book today? would you change? Would you edit anything add to it.

Dr. Srikumar Rao 25:02
No, I don’t think I would add to it I have found I’m writing another book right now, which will cover the same material, but it will cover the same material in a much more direct fashion as I started off our conversation with, in other words, instead of leading to it gradually, as I have done in, are you ready to succeed and just come up with a guide, this is what you’re really looking for. And this, this is it and then discuss is going to be a short book I don’t anticipate will be very long, but it will be I hope, but thing, a very pregnant with possibility. And my estimate is that there will be relatively few people who are ready for that. But those people will somehow discover it, or it will discover them and it’ll be reduced to them. Now,

Right. And he talks about that. There’s a couple more points that and these are all right in the beginning of the book, which I love, because you said you while you don’t dive right into the end result in front of the book, you set a stage, you set a really great stage for you know, here’s, here’s kind of what to expect. And here’s how to really leverage this book, which I really appreciated. And and in part of that was just what you’re saying there to want something, you know, enough, so greatly. Right? That that’s all you want. But to be okay with it not happening. Talk a little bit about that. Because you know, we want these things so bad. How can we want to save something so desperately but be okay with it not happening?

Dr. Srikumar Rao 26:38
That’s a paradox, Brandon. So let me tell you a story which illustrates that there was a sage who had two disciples and both of them were wonderful disciples are very conscientious, very diligent in their practices. But both of them had an insatiable desire to know when they would become enlightened. So they were constantly pestering him to say, Master, you are all seeing you know everything. Please tell us when we will become enlightened. So finally to get him off his bike, he said, Why don’t you come to me on full moon night, and I will tell you, and he was hoping they’d forget. And of course, they didn’t forget and promptly full moon light, they light it up, they prostrated before him and reminded him of his promise. He said he would tell us. So doctor, the first one and said, My son, you have been very diligent in your practice. And I’m very pleased with your progress. You will be born three more times three more lifetimes, and you will become enlightened. And he was physically dejected. His shoulders sagged, he said, Oh, my master, I’ve tried so hard. And you tell me I have three more lifetimes. So woe is me. And he walked off disconsolate. And he talked to the second disciple and said, Hey, you see the tree behind you. And it was a mango tree in full bloom, and they were bangles and leaves. They said, as many leaves as there are on that tree that many times will you have to be reborn, and then you will become enlightened. And the students said, that’s our master, you promise me that I am born so many times, and then I will be enlightened, oh, how wonderful it is. And he started jumping with joy. And the Master said, My son, you will be enlightened now. And he touched him on the forehead, and he was enlightened right there. Right? So it’s very much a factor like that it’s an oblique answer to your question, because your question, in order to answer it, you have to reach a level of consciousness different from the one where you created it. But there is both immense striving, and effortlessness. That is the thing that people find most difficult. Here’s the paradox. Many teachers, including the Buddha said, human life is rare and in human life, the desire for enlightenment is rare. So do not waste a second time is too precious work word, achieve enlightenment and this rebirth. And at the same time, things happen when they happen, the flower blooms when it is time the fruit ripens in the correct season. And there’s nothing you can do to hurry the process of. So the two are in contradiction. But they really aren’t in contradiction. They are, as I said, a paradox and paradoxes are only resolved when you go to a higher level of consciousness. So these are things that you cannot talk about logically, but you will Intuit that both of them are true. And you’re not only at peace with the ambiguity in the contradiction, but you can embrace the contradiction. That’s what my course is all about helping you recognize it’s not either or it’s both and I I appreciate I appreciate the course too, because you know, you can. And and this has been my experience so far.

I told you at the beginning here, I’m reading it for the third or fourth time. And it’s a totally different book this time than the first time I read it. And the first time I’ve read it, I’d have to say that it was primarily for personal success gains. Right, right. Right. Yeah. You know, am I right? Is the seed You bet I am, let’s do this thing. Absolutely. And as you know, my evolution has come about is, I don’t think that I’m fully there. But there’s the idea that the merging, right and understanding that I do these things with great effort, but if I do them in alignment with, you know, kind of a joy, or, again, with this podcast, bringing something to others to be of service to others, as well as myself. Things open up differently, the world opens up differently in a different way. Now, I’m just curious, did that happen for you when you created this, this course, and is that when you kind of first recognized it?

Dr. Srikumar Rao 31:06
Before I go there, let me also share with you that the paradox that I outlined to you has many parallels in the hard sciences, physics, you know, I used to be a physics major, as you pointed out. So for example, we still have not been able to reconcile what we call the wave particle duality, is light a particle or is light a wave, and it exhibits characteristics of both. So we’ve got an infrared wave particle duality, but we haven’t been able to resolve it exactly like that. You can use both, and at certain times one is appropriate, and other times the other is appropriate. But they’re both true. So coming back to my own life, yes, I am discovering that a lot of things that I tried hard and struggled to make happen. I don’t struggle anymore. I do make effort. I put it out there. But even therefore, it doesn’t seem like effort, because I’m doing it because I’m calling for, I don’t pay any attention to deadlines, because most deadlines are completely artificial. And you know, if I happen to meet it fine. If I don’t happen to meet it, I don’t beat myself up, you know, it’ll get done when it’ll get done. So I’m letting life evolve, as opposed to try to force my will upon the universe, if you will.

And I think that the other story that you tell in the book is how the one, you know, I was looking for enlightenment or something of the sword, and the master tells him 10 years, yeah, right. He goes, Well, what if I double my efforts, and he goes out 20 years, and it’s crazy, because that’s helped me to just kind of slow down a little bit, right, that that story in of itself is just inclusive. And it’s right in the beginning to which is, you know, again, the the the book is very nicely for, for anybody who, who’s kind of looking to do the self discovery journey,

So asking this question. You know, I don’t think it’s too tongue in cheek, but would you consider yourself along the lines of a guru? No. Okay. Okay,

Dr. Srikumar Rao 33:12
I do consider myself, a person who has been chosen for whatever reason by the universe transmits some great truths. But I want to emphasize and I state that in the very beginning of the book itself, these are not coming from me, these are coming through me. And they are the transmission of a tremendously powerful enlightened masters. And I have probably introduced distortions in them. Because if, by being the imperfect human being I am, but I try to consciously try to introduce as few distortions as possible, but if there are distortions, it’s all mine, if there’s any power, it’s all theirs. And that’s just a statement. This is the way it is teaching this to your children. You know, being a father myself, right?

I’ve got a couple children. And I know you’ve got you know, you’ve got your children and grandparent children along the way, right? How do you try to prevent them from kind of our mistakes, right, waiting till the end of our lives? Or midlife? How can they How can they notice?

Dr. Srikumar Rao 34:23
And I don’t think you can each person has to have his or her own life journey and make their own mistakes. And a lot of the things that I see them doing, I can recognize, this is not the ideal, but there’s not a damn thing I can do about it. And I don’t even try because they have their own their own path and their journey of growth. And like, you know, my mother monster shed many tears when she saw how her son was turning out, but it all worked out in the end. So I’m not shedding any tears, you know? Call avail is available and at some point it will become relevant and what is relevant they will pick up. But it is what it is. So I try to be supportive, I try to inject this at the appropriate time. So what I think are appropriate times, but I don’t have control. And I don’t beat myself up on that either. It is what it is.

And one of the books I thought that was really interesting that you shared was the Stanford course.

Right? And creativity in business. Yes.

And I thought that it was really interesting to that, who’s the Jim Collins came out of that course. But is that where you got the the vo j from?

The DOJ, probably I did pick up from that. And actually, that book was instrumental in my creating my course. Because I thought it Michael Reagan pulled it off at Stanford, I can pull this off at Columbia. And I did. So he was an inspiration, man, he was very supportive of me, by the way. We were in touch for a long time after that. And he said, Thank God that you were keeping the flag flowing. Because the very year that he retired from Stanford, that course disappeared. Interesting.

That’s interesting. And I bring that book up, because when I read it, of course, it wasn’t what I expected it to be. Right. Very similar to your book. There’s a lot of universal wisdom in it. And I guess, you know, it’s great to see that that was an inspiration for you. Because again, that’s this podcast, is to show others that there’s a different path that you can kind of go along that there’s people that who have gone before you that have been able to kind of figure it out, right

and put Yes. And put it together. These are the signposts along the way. And they’re encouraging people who are coming saying yes, there are others who felt the same way. And maybe they discovered or said something that I can use to help me in my journey.

Hey there spiritual dope and welcome back to Are you ready to succeed? We’re doing some deep dives on each of these chapters with primarily just because I love doing it, right. I love doing I love going through this book. This, like I said, about my fourth time going through the book. And each time I go through it, it’s a little bit different. And I learned, I realized that I’ve learned something new, right? Because it’s not that it’s not so much that I think I’ve talked about this and one of these pieces, it’s not so much what the book is teaching you about what you know, it’s about your ability to grasp the concepts, as your knowledge has changed throughout time. So and also in other news, man, you know, super excited again, I love this book. I love the author, I love his TED Talk. And I’ve been able to book him for the podcast, I don’t know how, how exciting is that? It’s not really something that I really saw coming ahead. But you know, what, there was a, you know, a couple days a couple weeks ago, just kind of on a whim, reached out to him, I reached out to this PM, and I was able to secure a podcast interview with him. So How exciting is that? I guess, you know, kind of how you’d know nothing happens if you don’t ask right, guys. So this, this chapter that we’re gonna be working on is called, it ain’t real. And what he’s going to walk through here with us in this one is mental models. It’s kind of like what what is a mental model? And, you know, where are they employed? The deal is that, you know, you’ve got, you’ve got mental models for what’s true, you’ve got mental models for reality, you’ve got mental models for like, these are the facts, right. And you also have mental models for work, love and family. And basically, you know, you put a model up for just all kinds of different ways that how what, how is truth proceed? what is reality? How do you discern what the facts are, right? You’ve got a specific way that work looks for you. And your, your view is going to be different than mine. Same thing with love. And likewise, with family, it’s definitely something that I learned while doing fatherhood. For the rest of us podcast, everybody’s got a different view on on how the family is supposed to work. Right. But in general, they all kind of work. In, in the book, he gives a couple of different sample models. And kind of like these stories, one of them is the idea of, hey, you’re not a part of the fast track crowd and you don’t fit in and you’re at work, right? I and then eventually you go through this kind of mental model, it builds kind of spirals down. And in the end you you decide that you’re just not going to put in the effort, because you don’t fit into this crowd. And you’re just gonna look to the next best thing, right? That was one of the models, it’s definitely more detailed in the book. And then another one of the mental models that he’s got there is what men what women think, men find attractive. And then, you know, she goes in this in this model, it’s a woman and she goes through the whole idea. And she’s like, Well, you know, I just don’t fit that criteria. So finally, I’m just like, you know what, I’m not qualified. I’m gonna die alone in old spinster. Right? And, you know, that type of thing, and that kind of that kind of mental thinking. So, you know, if you’ve got that type of thinking, you know, what, second, what’s that? Gonna? Eventually, you know, how’s that gonna play out? Right? You’re not going to act on something, if that’s your model. Another another one, this one’s actually it reminds me of the other model reminds me of kind of like a Wayne Dyer story. And he’s talking to a lady that’s getting ready to move to Chicago. And she’s like, Well, what do you think it’s gonna be like there. And Wayne Dyer goes, well, what’s it like? Where do people you know where you are now. And she goes, Well, the people are great. They’re really kind and generous and all these other things. And she goes, Yeah, that’s that’s pretty much what you’ll find there. And then another lady comes up to them, and she’s moving to, you know, some different spaces as well as wage because hey, Wayne, what’s it going to be like, when I moved there? She’s like, he goes, boop. How are the people where you are now? And he’s like, She’s like, they’re, they’re bitter. They’re angry. They, they never help out the room, because that’s pretty much what you’re going to find when you get there. You know, what? The deal is?

where you are, right? It’s like, wherever Whatever it is, like where you are now, it’s gonna be like that when you get there. It’s like, you’re taking that with you. And that’s a model, right? you’ve kind of got it got that built in. So he presents some different models that you can go ahead and employ in your mind as you go through this book. And it’s better to ask, right, if when you’re presented with a new model, it’s better to ask yourself is, does this new model work better for me than the one that I’m currently using? If you come from the background of, you know, how can you reframe that, right? It’s really kind of like, you know, your model is real similar to the story that you tell yourself that you are, why you are where you are today because of XYZ, right? That’s the story you’ve been telling yourself. But is it possible if that story is not quite right, so what happens if you decide to rewrite your story, right? Try a new model out for a while rewrite your story. And then if it still isn’t a fit, then drop it, I love it. Because so many of us, we want to hang on to this story, you know, we’re so emotionally invested in this story that we’ve created for ourselves that we’ve got to keep it. And he’s like, if it’s not a fit, if, if this is working for you, if this isn’t working for you, then drop it, find a new one, find a new model, and use only what works for you. You know, these are my these are essentially models. And we’ll get to the idea is like these aren’t real, it ain’t real, right. So it doesn’t really matter which one you pick, but pick one that is working for you. The he gives you he gives you a mental model exercise. You know, I don’t think this is really fair for me to go ahead and list out the entire thing or, or even share out like all of the individual stories, aside from the kind of give you maybe a synopsis of them, or give you an idea of what some of these are, right? But the first one is my mental models, right? This is write out your mental models in different areas. And you know, he goes to some of the some of these exercises, as you’re going through them, you’re gonna see your mental models, right. And you’re going to make some changes in your mind as you’re going through them. Because now you realize that you actually have that ability, you realize now that you have the ability to make a shift, to change some of your mental models, when that moment happens. And this is another thing that I love about this book, this is the very first book that I recall, that instructed you to stop reading, stop reading for a moment, and stop trying to push past that moment and savor it. Savor that moment and enjoy and relish in those new thoughts or revelations that you’ve just had. This is my own note right here. If you’re not willing to do these exercises, if you’re not willing to do the exercise, any book that you read, if you’re not willing to do the exercises, when you get to the exercise, I think it’s I think it’s really fair for you to put the book down, because that’s an indicator that says, Would you get the book for right? If you’re not willing to try it out? Then Then if you’re not willing to take action on some of those nuanced, not, you know, some of those new exercises and new ways of being that the maybe not now, maybe don’t do it right now put the book down. This is just me talking. Because I, I know that I’ve gone through many books and done it and haven’t done the exercises haven’t followed through, haven’t gone through it. And I do know that I have with this book and a couple others and each time that I actually follow through with the exercises, my life is changed. And any it’s funny because I don’t know, if you’re listening on the podcast, and I’ve been able to see inside of the book at the exercise, you know, says, you know, when you’re tempted not to do an exercise, resist the urge you only get out what you put in. And you know, I think one of the one of the years I did, it’s like I’m doing this now, like I stopped and I you know wrote in the book, I’m doing this now and I stopped to do it again this year. Alright, we had to take a break for a second there, but we are back.

It was dinnertime. I think I think we’ll keep going here. So again, if you’re not if you’re not willing to do these exercises, I don’t think that you’re just not. You’re not ready right now. And that’s okay, too. But you’re in luck, you could only just go ahead and read the book. I’m not saying don’t, um, you may, you may find an exercise past this one that you’re able to do, and then realize just how just how much these, these doing these exercises does help. So it’s not real, I love this, you know, he talks about the whole idea is that you cannot unlearn an idea that has taken root. And that’s really, really why we got to be careful about what does go into our minds and what we really think about because once we once that thing kind of gets in there and seeps in there, it’s it’s almost impossible to to unlearn that idea, that concept, it’s in there forever. Everyone perceives the world differently. This is what what he says here in a book that is the the bedrock of effective negotiation is to understand here that somebody else is going to perceive the world differently, and try and figure out what that difference is, so that you can effectively negotiate. This is a universal truth. The fact is that everybody is going to see the world differently. foundations of a worldview can change when we look inwards. When we recognize the whole idea, the whole idea, then is when we recognize that someone or anyone has different views, we also realize that we have the capability to change our own as well. So we can change our models, we can change the foundation of our own worldview. Once again, we get in there and we make it and make it seated. Look, we got people out there that did a to have a flat Flat Earth view, right? Who really truly believed this, because, you know, because somebody has been able to spell it out in some way that is, that makes sense to them. And that’s really all you got to do is figure out a way to where it makes sense for you. And ultimately, your your whole worldview will change as well. So our worldview isn’t even really knew. The deal is that we’ve made it out of mental models. And then once we create these mental models that we discuss, we live within those constraints, we create something based off of our perceptions, you know, what it is that we think that we’re seeing based off of what we know. And then we live within those constraints, we are making our own prison the most, or, you know, or, or we’re creating our own freedom. So it’s merely a construct, you have dozens of models, that you stitch together to create the fabric of your very own reality. I love the concept. And the idea that he puts in here is each each one of these models that you put together is like the facet of a geo disc home. And the deal is if one of those facets isn’t real, then maybe none of them are, maybe none of them are therefore, therefore, this son of a bi T, therefore, your life is not real. And never has been because you base it off of these concepts, these ideas, these constraints, your perceptions. Right, and so that part, so I remember reading that for the first time, and it blew my mind, too. So the deal is you made the construct, you live in the construct, and there are equal parts of that construct that they’re real and unreal, but you made it, you live in it. And then this piece right here is kind of the next one that would, you know, just kind of blows the lid off. The life you are living is a reality. The life you are living is a reality. He says your mistake is thinking that it is the reality. All right. I mean, when you think about it, when we think about how do you even envision your future, or you’re sitting there and you’re like it could go this way that way or the other way. You’re thinking about all of those multiple possibilities, all those multiple realities that
