What’s going on? What’s going on spiritual dope, how have you been? I have been pretty busy. pretty busy lately. So that doesn’t mean that there’s never enough time to be doing the doing the podcast. That’d be being said. I was doing some other things. And I got busy not doing the podcast, I also been doing 100 day mailer program, so far as to say that at this point that that is not 100 consecutive days. turns, it turns out that that’s going to be exactly what it sounds like 100 day email program. But I shared something in there about Ani, the Franco big fan of Alan Franco. And she’s got a live album. And in that album, she just talks about life kind of happening to her and she says, I got kind of distracted right now. I’m always entertained by that. And that’s exactly that’s exactly what happened to me. While I was in the process of this, and and secondarily, when I’m doing these, I don’t want to move forward until I’m doing the we’re doing the are you ready to succeed? By Sreekumar Rob doing the chapter seven. And I don’t like to move forward until after I’ve done at least at least one of the exercises, if not all of the exercises that are mentioned within chapter and I hadn’t done it. So that was why I didn’t do any podcasts. We got, we sold our house, we did a bunch of move in, downsized, outsized, whatever size and just made a move to a to a newer place. And right now we’re also in transit. Right? So we’re we are at an Airbnb for a month, people are always like, well, that’d be great, man, let’s I want to be a nomad. Maybe, maybe not depends, depends on how you want to chase that down. But so far, it’s been fun. We’re having a lot of fun, and we’re enjoying the journey. And I want to say thank you for always being here. appreciate the fact that you keep checking in and seeing what’s going on. And, you know, let’s finish this thing up, right? I know, I forget when this started, but we’ve been doing it for a while. So we are on chapter seven of Are you ready to succeed? By Sreekumar, Rao subtext is unconventional strategies for achieving personal mastery in business and life. And this chapter is called freedom and happiness. They ain’t what do you think? He starts off Sreekumar starts us off with a with a with a pretty cool story. And it’s kind of one that hits you in the gut, especially if you’re a parent. And basically, basically, it’s a story about a guy who is doing his job, right, who’s dedicated more of his life to his job, then then, let’s say his family, and he’s got himself into such a place where he can’t leave. He can’t, can’t leave the situation, right? Like he’s deemed integral to whatever the situation is, is going on. And his child is about to give a final performance at school, and he’s going to miss it, and he’s going to miss it, he realizes that he’s missed all the performances, and that he essentially where he is right now, he feels like he is shackled in his life. And if I can hear from any of those parents out there, going through this journey, who understand and realize that they, they, they’re missing out on some of their children’s life, because of the time that they’re dedicating to their, to their jobs. We go into name moves on into freedom, right? So the idea is that what is your definition of freedom? Right, what is your definition? Trying to think? You know, what, what does he put in here? One of the things that he puts in here and I’ve got it highlighted in the book is, you know, have you thought about the idea and the concept of the freedom from the constant desire for more How would it be wouldn’t be nice if you felt free from the need and or desire to want more, more than what you’ve already got in your life. And, you know, I personally think that that’s the one a big one right?

When you if you could drop the the idea that anything else that you You’re wanted, and be happy with what you’ve got and where you are? How would that make the war with the pressure in your life come from then? Where would the pressure in your life come from? If you dropped the desire for more? Then he moves on. Right? So the next part of the book chapter is stone walls. Do not a prison make. The idea is that you’re just like, kind of imagine the perfect day where where are you? What do you do? What would you like to be doing? What is your work? And are you pleasantly challenged by it? Do you get the opportunity to hang out with a friend whose company you actually enjoy, where there’s no tension, no sense of upmanship? Maybe never the day you get to watch a show that is purely instructive and enjoyable. You end the day with a sense of ease and wonder that you have the life that you do. And the question he poses is, Do you recall last time you had this kind of day in your own life? And do you feel like if you would like that it’s possible, right? It’s definitely possible to have a lifetime of days like this. The The idea is, and this is where the the chapter comes from title title, this sub chapter is, is you will need to escape from the prison you’re currently in. Right. So whatever it is that you’re doing right now, it’s kind of it’s kind of self imposed as kind of the idea and he illustrates this, in this next exercise, which is probably one of the toughest exercises in the book and the exercise is do nothing, do nothing for 30 minutes, sit, meditate, no humming, no audio, no other thing, you have a focal point and do nothing for 30 minutes. And the idea is that if you are not able to do this, if you’re not able to do this for 30 minutes, with your own time in your own life, how free Do you think you really are? moves on to happiness, right? So we just kind of talking about freedom a little bit there, moves on to happiness and and the gist of it is, is happiness is something that most of us we seek outside of ourselves, we also seek it from others, right? We seek the validation from others to to kind of let us know whether or not we’re happy or maybe even look at comparing ourselves to other May we compare ourselves as one as miserable or somebody we think is happy. And, and then we we put ourselves in a position to you know, there’s like a happiness gauge, if you will. And we put ourselves along there. He shares a short story from Anthony de Mello. And let me see if he tells us who and Melo is. psychotherapists and Jesuit priest, Anthony de Mello, pretty pretty, I think, fairly well named no name in this space, if you’re not familiar, check them out. I haven’t really checked them out beyond this, and hearing them quoted from place to place. The idea is, when you are living your life, are you doing something for that innate soul feeling of joy that often comes from giving or being is simply being happy for who and where you are versus the being recognized by somebody else or some, you know, a group. So when you’re doing something to be recognized, right? You’re doing it so that somebody says, oh, great job, and that’s where your happiness comes from. Right? So the validation from somebody else that tells you that what you’ve done is in accordance and allows you to be happy or maybe gives you an applause because you’ve been on stage missing doing anything. Or maybe even at work, right, you get your happiness because you’re your boss thinks that what you’ve done is great. And so now you’re happy. The idea though, it’s pretty powerful. That he kind of gives, he outlines here is that when you’re doing some of these things for outside of yourself that these are,

where’s it good to hear. the true nature of worldly feelings are they are not natural. They were invented by our society to make you productive and make you controllable These feelings do print do not produce the nourishment and happiness is produced when one contemplates nature enjoys the company one’s friends or work. They were meant to produce thrills, excitement, and essentially emptiness, right, because even at the end of the day, if you come home and, and you’re excited about maybe the accolades and something else that work, and there’s really nobody else gets it, but you, I don’t know that that’s here, maybe maybe that’s not where he’s going with this. But the idea is, that’s not really true happiness, and that that’s not really I don’t think long lasting. So he, he also illustrates it with this other story of CEO who’s worked for 20 years to reach the level of CEO. And then right as he kind of transitions into that ball, you know that that role, a company gets bought out, company gets bought you imagine working here and tired, 20 years to reach level CEO. And as soon as you reach that level, the company gets bought, and essentially, you get canned. Put yourself in that position. And then just just imagine, like, how hard that must hit you? And how would you feel? Would you know, the thing that you strove so hard for and even granted just for a moment? Because taken away? What does that do for your sense of happiness, right? He also says, Here, look, there’s nothing you have to get in order to be happy. So I think the best example of that is right now you could, if you really wanted to recall a moment where you were happy and feel happy right now, if you want it or take a look around you and see what you have that’s available to you that might not be available to anybody else. And you, you might be able to find happiness, right where you are, right now, in this moment. talks about the power of brainwashing, right? I think that you know, that there’s a lot in this chapter. So, so the idea of if we say that, you know, you can be happy right now. And if Happiness is your innate nature, then why are you filled with anger and sorrow. And it’s because of this mental model that we’ve been fed over and over again, of we are better if we are successful, right? You are incomplete, and your life is incomplete. And you know, we’ve got all these marketing products and solutions that help you to manufacture your needs. If you even if you look at some of these marketing materials and, and sales materials, you’ll you’ll see that this is true, you know, some somebody creates a situation shows that somebody is happy. And and By comparison, you don’t you’re not supposed to but you’re going to no matter what By comparison, you see somebody who’s happy and joyful and smiling because they’ve got a thing, or, or a product and and you think that you do you need that in your life, right? That’s a manufactured need. is a hot dog happening here. So let’s see. So it evolves around your own life and patterns, trying to look here at why I jotted this down, right. You know, your life and patterns of consumptions, you’re absolutely convinced that, you know, you need to maintain your particular quote, unquote, standard of living and maybe improve on it right. So, again, this is this is kind of like just what we’ve been fed, right? You believe and just for, he says, Hey, you believe that you were immune. And the deal is you swallow at all. And the thing is, you are not paying attention, right? So

this is this is the idea of conscious behavior conscious and being woke doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve just connected to your spirituality, consciousness. mentality means that you’re paying attention now to the shit that’s going into your brain. Right? You’re paying attention now to the thoughts that you accept and who the authorities are and what you’re what you’re willing to believe. And you’re paying attention now to the stories that you’ve told yourself historically, and the stories that you’re going to keep telling yourself but so I don’t want to make it all out to be just the marketers either and I don’t think that he does, and he has not just from advertising is not just from market, it’s not just from sales. This, this this brainwashing comes from your parents, from your friends, from teachers and coaches, anyone who is an authority or someone that you know, like and trust, right, this is sales one on one, this is marketing one on one, but these have all contributed to who you are, where you are, and your current situation. Now, the idea is your question these beliefs, values and these mental models and he says the answers that you find are very counter intuitive. Let me see if he gives an opportunity for you to. He doesn’t say, right here, and maybe he does a little bit. I’m just looking for a place where he says in the book that was an example of a counter intuitive answer. He does not say We’ll see. We’ll see how this keeps lead. Now. It’s been a minute, since I’ve read it and wrote down these notes, but I think, let’s see, where are we here in timing. 15 minutes.
